About PharmaHacks
PharmaHacks" is an annual life-science-themed hackathon focusing on tackling problems in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. This year, PharmaHacks 2023 has 3 challenges that address various aspects of the biomedical and bioinformatics fields, each requiring different skill sets to solve. Teams of 3-5 hackers will work together to tackle a single challenge, and it's crucial to emphasize that we only accept one submission per team.
Requirements
All challenges will go through two evaluation stages, beginning with an initial selection stage and culminating in a final presentation stage for the top 4 teams in each challenge. The initial selection stage requires a brief abstract of no more than 200 words and a short video of no more than 1 minute. The abstract should contain essential information that justifies the team's approach and explains their solution. The video should feature an oral description of the team's primary outcomes, as well as a screen-recorded "demo run" of their code on a randomly sampled subset of the data (for more information, refer to the challenges PDF). During the final presentation stage, each team will be given 5-6 minutes to present their solution, followed by 3-4 minutes allocated for questions from the judges (10 minutes total). However, we would like to remind hackers that due to the tight schedule, it is important to respect the allocated presentation time. Please note that if a team exceeds their allotted time, the PharmaHacks team may need to cut their presentation short to maintain the schedule.
